Our story · Port Harcourt and beyond
A church formed for the Gospel and the work of ministry.
New Testament Foundation is a missionary-focused church founded in Port Harcourt in 1994. It began with a group of men and women who had been part of a Bible study in another local assembly. They shared a desire to teach the New Covenant faithfully and take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people near and far.
Our calling is to help believers grow into the work of ministry and to reach rural and urban communities in Nigeria and beyond.
Our church motto · Ephesians 4:12 (KJV)
“For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:”
Why we are here
Vision and mission.
Our vision
To see the body of Christ grow into maturity and unity in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, while the Gospel reaches rural and urban communities in Nigeria and beyond.
Our mission
To perfect the saints for the work of the ministry and edify the body of Christ. As able ministers of the New Testament, we teach the New Covenant faithfully and carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ to communities near and far.
Our beginnings
A fellowship with a missionary calling.
The founding group wanted to share the total Gospel as taught by the Lord Jesus Christ and the Apostles, and to teach the New Covenant without adulteration. At first, the group focused on mission work and visits to other ministries, seeking a distinct calling before beginning a fellowship of its own.
After meeting for a time, the group began Sunday fellowships for prayer, Bible study, and planning. The meetings first took place at a brother’s home. The name New Testament Foundation helped the group coordinate correspondence, mission work, and outreach around Port Harcourt.
